System Requirements

• Windows 2000 Professional (with Service Pack 4 or above), or
• Windows XP (with Service Pack 2 or above), or
• Windows Vista.

CPU Speed:

• CPU speed the equivalent of Pentium IV 3.2GHz or faster (or equivalent AMD) is recommended.
• CPU speed the equivalent of Pentium IV 2GHz or faster (or equivalent AMD) is required.

The following conditions increase the load on the CPU:

• Adding very large drawings to the building.
• Importing dimensions and exported views from Revit.
• Adding many dimensions/dimension groups to the building.
• Adding many revisions to the building.

Network and Internet:

• Network bandwidth of 1 GB or greater is recommended (when used with CostX Server).
• Network bandwidth of 100 MB or greater is required (when used with CostX Server).

The following conditions increase the bandwidth requirements:

• Adding very large drawings to the building which are located across the network.
• Importing and exporting large amounts of data across the network.
• Connecting CostX with a CostX Server to work on shared projects.

Video Graphics:

• A dedicated video graphics card (eg. ATI or NVIDIA 256+ MB) is highly recommended.
• A dedicated video graphics card is not required.

Hard Disks:

• Available hard disk space of 10 GB or greater is recommended.
• Available hard disk space of 500 MB or greater is required.

The following conditions increase the disk space requirement:

• Adding many drawings to the building.
• Adding very large drawings to the building.
• Adding many dimension groups to the building.
• Creating many dimensions.
• Adding many workbooks to the building.
• Storing many projects in the database (Archiving to EXF is recommended)

RAM Capacity:

• RAM capacity of 2 GB or greater is recommended.
• Minimum RAM capacity is 512 MB.

The following conditions increase the memory size requirement:

• Adding many drawings to the building. (An average drawing will use 30-80 MB, and a large drawing will use 80-200 MB)
• Adding very large drawings to the building.
• Adding many dimension groups and dimensions to the building.
• Adding exported Revit views and dimensions to the building (recommended at least 2GB).

Screen Colours & Resolution:

For best results, it is recommended that the Color Quality/Windows Colors is set to Highest (32 bit). If your display cannot support 32 bit colors, please choose the highest setting.

Recommended screen resolution is 1280 × 1024.
Minimum screen resolution is 1024 × 768. (Screen resolution of 800 × 600 will still work, however screens are not optimized at resolutions below 1024 × 768).
Recommended DPI is 96.
